On October 16, Jannick Höper, M.Sc., successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in the DPBB Department at the University of Wuppertal.

His dissertation is titled:
“Development of a Method for Calculating and Combining Energy, Environmental, and Economic Bottom-Up and Top-Down Benchmarks in Early Project Phases in an Open-BIM Context: A Case Study of Logistics Real Estate.”

What exactly is it about?
In early planning phases, there is often a lack of reliable comparative data needed to make well-informed energy, environmental, and economic decisions. Jannick Höper is developing a method that combines bottom-up and top-down benchmarks into an integrated assessment tool—embedded in an open BIM process and tested using logistics real estate as a case study.

The result: a practical tool that helps planners and building owners manage sustainability and cost-effectiveness early on and in a holistic manner.

The examination committee for the doctoral defense consisted of:

• Prof. Dr. Anica Meins-Becker, University of Wuppertal
• Prof. Dr. Bernd Naujoks, University of Wuppertal
• Prof. Dr. Steffen Anders, University of Wuppertal
• Prof. Dr. Guido Spars, University of Wuppertal
• Prof. Dr. Reinhard Wimmer, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences

Congratulations on successfully defending your dissertation! We wish you all the best in your future academic and professional endeavors!
