Since the winter semester 2024/2025, the chair has been offering a module on the application of artificial intelligence in the construction industry together with lecturers from the field. Students gain in-depth knowledge about the use and application of large language models and acquire theoretical and practical skills in the field of prompt engineering. In addition, they gain practical insights into strategies and specific applications of machine learning in construction companies.

Why you should take the "AI in the construction industry" module

  • Fundamentals of artificial intelligence for the construction industry: Gain in-depth insights into the key applications of artificial intelligence in the construction industry. The module covers everything from the basics of AI to the use of large language models and practical applications in construction projects.
  • Practical relevance: Learn the basics of machine learning, how to develop strategic approaches and how to create prompts for AI models. Our practice-oriented exercises ensure that you can directly apply what you have learnt in your day-to-day work - and not just in the construction and property industry.
  • Application-oriented expertise: Learn how AI is used in practice to optimise construction processes. This knowledge is particularly valuable for prospective specialists who want to introduce innovative technologies into the construction industry.
  • Perspective of the construction companies: A special feature of the module is the insight into the application of AI from the perspective of construction companies. This perspective enables you to gain crucial insights into increasing efficiency and optimising processes through machine learning.
  • Expand your knowledge and network: The module offers more than just theoretical knowledge. Benefit from guest lectures by experienced industry practitioners and learn through case studies that provide valuable real-world insights and networking opportunities.
  • Career prospects: The knowledge you acquire will prepare you for a wide range of professional fields. These include the digital transformation in the construction industry, the optimisation of construction processes using AI and the application of machine learning in construction projects. Computer science skills are not required, but are an advantage.
