Construction site excursion to Heumar junction - experience digitalisation up close!
As part of the "Digitalisation and BIM basics" module, we had the opportunity to take our students on an impressive excursion to the AD Heumar motorway junction construction site (connecting the A 3, A 4 and A 59 motorways) on 26 November.
What we experienced:
- Fascinating insights into the construction of a bridge using the launching method - a technically demanding process that became tangible on site.
- Exciting demonstrations on the use of digital tools directly on the construction site, including
- Use of drones for documentation and surveying
- 360° cameras for transparent construction progress images
- Use of point clouds as a basis for precise analyses
- BIM models that support the construction process and make decisions easier
A big thank you to Schüßler-Plan, especially Beatrice Steinbüchel, Benedikt B. and Nils Schluckebier for the practical insights and excellent support for our students. Such excursions impressively demonstrate how digitalisation and BIM are changing everyday life on the construction site - and how important it is to understand these developments at an early stage.
